About Us
Hi, I'm Kenny, and together with my wife Eilidh we run our own traditional music shop called Folk Revolution.

The idea for Folk Revolution started sometime around July 2001. I had just been made redundant from my job as a Technical Support Engineer and was about to embark upon a short term contract with the Civil Service.
I had spent many Saturdays visiting music shops with Eilidh in both Edinburgh and Glasgow and I became increasingly frustrated at the lack of 'good' traditional music books on offer. Searching the Internet showed us that many of the books were actually available but were not stocked by retailers locally. My own experiences had also shown me that whilst many shops would stock some books, companion CDs, cassettes etc seemed difficult to find.
From the outset I knew that if the idea was to become reality I would need to offer more than the 'average' shop. Every shop I visited gave me ideas as to how I could improve service to customers - from the obvious things to more specialised aspects. I knew that this would be no easy task. Together with my partner Eilidh, we sat down and worked out a plan. Folk Revolution is the fruit of many months of planning, now into it's third year of business.
We have tried to create a 'one-stop' shop for traditional music. Unlike many music retailers, we stock CDs as well as books, instruments and accessories. However, we want Folk Revolution to be more than just a shop for traditional music. As the business has grown, it has grown in different and often unexpected directions, and it continues to do so. We are proud to be able to say that many of the artists whose CDs we stock come into the shop frequently.
The website itself is all designed, coded and uploaded by me, Kenny, as and when time allows. Occasionally things become unavailable and it take a while for the website to catch up, and sometimes prices do change on certain items. We try to keep this to a minimum .
If you want something that you don't see or we don't have in stock, just ask and we will try to get it for you. Most orders take about a week to two weeks (although we are at the mercy of our suppliers).
Although our main areas of expertise are fiddle music, the mandolin family and guitars, we try to give honest impartial advice about everything we sell - there's no commission or brand tie-ins, so we don't resort to 'hard sell' techniques. We want you to be happy with your purchases. Above all, we want your visit to Folk Revolution to be a happy one!
Best regards
